The latest figures by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirms that Nigeria now has a total of 178,508 COVID-19 cases.
In its latest case update dated August 9, the NCDC reports 422 new cases with 5 COVID-related deaths.

The new cases were reported in 9 states – Lagos-190, Rivers-86, Ogun-85, Oyo-22, FCT-20, Kwara-7, Edo-5, Abia-4 and Bayelsa-3.
According to the NCDC, 0 cases were in reported in Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Kaduna, Kano, Nasarawa, Ondo, Osun, Plateau and Sokoto States.
