EKO HOT BLOG reports that the latest figures by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirms that Nigeria now has a total of 247,775 COVID-19 cases.
In its latest case update dated January 8, the NCDC reports 766 new cases with 1 COVID-related death.

The new cases were reported in 13 states – Lagos-261, Anambra-208, Rivers-159, Kaduna-42, Gombe-25, FCT-20, Osun-19, Oyo-14, Bauchi-5, Kano-5, Ekiti-4, Ebonyi-2, and Ogun-2.
According to the NCDC, no case was recorded in Nasarawa, Ondo, Plateau and Sokoto States.
It was gathered that out of the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria, 218,427 cases have been discharged while the death toll has risen to 3,071.
