The Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), on Monday, said it will meet on Wednesday to figure a way curb the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic as schools reopen across the country.

A statement signed by its spokesman, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, disclosed that the Governors forum was alarmed by the intensity of the second wave of the global pandemic and the country’s “tardy commencement of inoculation”.

“Alarmed by the intensity of the second wave of the Covid19 pandemic, and Nigeria’s tardy commencement of inoculation that is sweeping through countries globally, the 36 governors of the federation may finally come up with a definitive pronouncement, as they will be meeting on Wednesday January 20 to find the way forward for the country,” the statement partly read.

Nigeria has witnessed a steady rise in the number of cases with the country reaching the over 100,000 mark in recent weeks.
