COVID 19: NGO Sensitizes Epe Residents On Compliance To Stay At Home Order, Security Awareness
The front line community-development centred NGO in Epe, Concerned Nation-Builders Initiative (CNI), embarked on a public enlightenment campaign tagged ” Say No To Crime And Yes To Stay At Home Order”.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the sensitization exercise was carried out in partnership with Epe Traditional Institutions, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Epe Local Government and Eredo LCDA.
Our Correspondence report further that, the aim of the programme was to support the giant strides being taken by Lagos state government to prevent and contain the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging countries around the world.
Speaking with Eko Hot Blog while flagging off the event, at Epe Local Government Secretariat, Itamarun, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adedoyin Adesanya expressed delight at the laudable partnership established by CNI.

“When the Lagos state government gave their report that, Epe and two other local governments were said to have not recorded any case of Coronavirus in Lagos, I was happy and I pray it remains that way.
“That is more reason why I am supporting the exercise in partnership with security agencies in Epe to talk to our people that coronavirus is real.
“People who have contracted the virus can’t be disclosed due to the fear of stigmatization.
“The late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, died of the dreaded Coronavirus, he was buried by the Federal government without the presence of his family members, ” the LG Boss said.
The public enlightenment exercise organized by CNI in the company of security officials had their motorcade drive around town preaching the “Stay At Home” gospel.
Other messages of enlightenment preached over the Public Address System (P.A.S) includes; Practicing Social Distancing, Staying away from Crime, washing hands regularly with soap and water, desisting from burning tyres on roads, obeying government-approved trading hours, among others.
While addressing the Patrol Team, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja (JP), The Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija Kingdom expressed satisfaction towards the campaign noting that, it was a right step in the right direction.
“I am happy and totally in support of this laudable program.
“I am glad that there is no case of the virus recorded in Epe.
“I must say we the Royal Fathers of this great town are working assiduously to prevent strangers from coming into Epe town through all known borders except for those on essential services and food transporters.
“This is to prevent people with the virus from coming in. We are also working round the clock to safeguard our people from criminal activities, ” he said.
Also, High Chief Ogungbesan Oriyomi Peter , The Olu Ora of Ora Kingdom, Eredo, while addressing participants, gave kudos to the organizers of the exercise.
“I am pleased with what the NGOs is doing and I pray Almighty God will reward you all Abundantly.
“Since the lockdown, we have been witnessing security breaches by criminals and we are doing our best to manage the situation, ” the Baale said.
Hon. Dahunsi Oluwaseun Ogunkelu (Sketel), The House of Assembly Member, representing Epe Constituency II, was marvelled at the voluntary humanitarian service being carried out by the NGO.
“CNI is doing a fantastic job in Epe community and I am more than pleased to see your NGO doing what is supposed to be done by the government.
“I saw your programs on “Operation Feed The Rural Dwellers” and I am highly impressed.
“Matters concerning the security of this community is what brought me to Ora Palace, where I stumbled at you people on community service activities.
“I am happy to witness your selfless service to people on prevention against Coronavirus and preaching against criminality in the community, ” he said.
The astute lawmaker advised members of the organization not to relent in carrying out community-development based projects in Epe.
He implored members to look beyond financial gains as such habit will not make the organization witness the expected progress and development.
Speaking on the program, Hon. Saliu Adeniyi, Chairman, Eredo LCDA, was astonished at the synergy between the NGO, security agencies and traditional institutions.
Saliu was of the view that such a project deserves many accolades.
“I am using this medium to testify to the many community-based projects your noble organization has been putting in place.
“They are laudable and worthy of emulation.
“When your National Coordinator, Mr Idris Tele-Olukoya, called to notify me about this event, I told him to go ahead that I am fully in support, ” he said.
Dr Mrs Linda Odiagbe, a volunteer Dentist and Rural Health expert told our Correspondence that, she developed an interest in the exercise when she read about it online.
“As a rural health expert, I had to volunteer to join the exercise in order to contribute my quota as a Health worker to the prevention and containment of the virus in Epe community.
“Taking part in the sensitization is stressful and energy-sapping but we give glory to Almighty God for the success, ” she said.
Eko Hot Blog Correspondence mentioned the areas visited during the campaign, which includes: Paramount, Ita-Opo, Ayetoro market, Lagos road, Cele, Kasali Oluwo, Adeyemi Ekundayo Street, Marina, Oluwo market, Araromi Street.
Others are Oke-Balogun, Awolowo way, Odomola, Poka Noforija, Odo-Iragunshin, Eredo and Mojoda market.
