COVID-19: Nigerians React As Buhari Considers Another 2-Week Lagos Lockdown

Controversial self-acclaimed Journalist, Kemi Omololu Olunloyo has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari is considering a two-week total lockdown for Lagos State.

In a tweet via her official Twitter handle on Saturday morning, Kemi  who claimed to have a source at the presidency said Buhari might lock down Lagos State again following the rise in COVID-19 cases and the non compliance of guidelines such as wearing of face masks, social distancing and others.

Recall that the Federal Government  ruled out imposing another lockdown, despite the increase in COVID-19 cases in the country.

On Thursday,  Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), Boss Mustapha said,

“To go back to a total lockdown must be taken in the context of what we desire to achieve after we’ve lockdown for about five weeks and seen how we fared.

“So the issue of review might not have that in contemplation because you can’t move forward and begin to move backward again.”

However, some Nigerians seem to be in support of another Lockdown while others opposed it.

See some reactions:

“@vesselofhonour4

For the first time , I’m in total agreement with you. No preventive measures observed in Lagos. The general belief is that the virus is either a fraud aimed at enriching the politicians who it trails or it is afraid of the lowly. #Lockdownlagos.

@NwabenuD

Another lockdown will lead to a revolution. The country need to find a way to live with this virus. If over 4k positive persons have been discharged, then it means you already have a cure.

@castroy_hardey

Even US that has discharged over 100k people doesn’t have a cure. They are only managing symptoms. Then allow immune system fight the virus naturally.

Abdulganiyu Kabiru Oyeleke

This virus has never been as dangerous as we were meant to believe. Believe me, the president will be disappointed because the lockdown order will not hold.

Fagbemi Boluwatife

Places of Worship to Resume This month with the Overwhelming cases in Lagos , Ogun and other states ? Face mask in Market places are just used for decorations It’s surprising The cases hasn’t reached 20k yet. #Lockdown

@dalogodo

Two weeks lockdown if its same as previous ones may still not be effective. Lockdown without testing?

@RaphaelRoy19

This is the right step cause now people are thinking or saying there is no corona virus again that the govt is scamming we the people and this is increasing our law enforcement agencies too are even part of the people not obeying such law not to talk about arresting.

Share your thoughts using the comment section. Should Lagos State be on lockdown again? Especially as it is the epicentre of the Covid-19 pandemic.
