The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has asked Nigerians to minimise the risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the country.

“We must also take responsibility to minimise the risk of transmission, protect our young people and their families for the schools to operate effectively,” he stressed.

According to him, “Each of us have our own part to play. It is definitely time for Nigeria to get moving and in this regard, we have to support our students.

“We also have to protect our schools because by protecting our schools and educational system, we also protect our future.”

The Coordinator also said that the resumption date for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation activities has already been made known to its management.

Regarding the reopening of schools, he said it has to be gradual but added that all stakeholders must be wary of contracting COVID-19 and should strictly adhere to the public health advisories.

“All we are saying is, here are the guidelines, we want it to be staggered, we want you to do things in a proper way,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Director-General, NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, had on September 24, urged prospective corps members to watch out for the new date of resumption of orientation camps.

“Happily, we are on the verge of reopening the camps, working hard in harmony with the PTF on COVID-19 on safe Orientation Camp resumption.

“We can say delightfully that we are approaching the end of the tunnel, and in no distant time will resume full operations while strictly observing safety protocols,” he said.
