Covid-19: The Position Of Islam On Corona Virus, Imam Raji Explains

I’me Chief Imam of Alkhaleeq Central Mosque, Ogudu Ojota, Alhaji Raji Adams, has narrated that the guidelines from the government and the health care personnel on COVID-19 pandemic is in accordance with the doctrine of Islam.
Adams said this yesterday, 2 May 2020 while propagating the obeying order of the government to people of Ojota and its environ on a tracking mission. He said it would be disastrous if citizens go against the new measure given by the government on COVID-19. He moved further to remind people that despite the fact that no one knew some months ago that there would be an outbreak of a pandemic, but his sermon on the 31 January 2020, touched some areas concerning something of such.

After the humanitarian services, the Chief Imam gave our reporter from Eko Hot Blog excerpts from the aforementioned sermon and I quote it below:

INFECTION CONTROL IN ISLAM

” MY SERMON ON 31ST JAN.2020, AT ALKHALEEQ HQ.OGUDU /OJOTA.

First and foremost, Islam is a religion Concerned with Creating a Community of healthy believers. On this ground, it teaches a holistic belief system and it takes into account the following ;

The physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of individuals and society at large.

Although, care of the individual is important, safeguarding Community, including its weakest members, is of paramount importance.

“More than 1400 years Ago Prophet Muhammad

Was teaching his followers Hygiene practices that are still applicable in the 21st Century.

From the traditions of Prophet Muhammad, we find evidence that clearly indicates Islam’s Stance on Coughing and Sneezing openly.

Prophet Instructed the believers to cover their faces when Sneezing. Because Sneezing $ Coughing without covering the mouth is the major mean of spreading Airborne bacteria and viruses.

“Islam is Referred to as the Religion of Cleanliness. Q CH.2: 222. ” Truly God loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves” major areas to be cleaned are ;

Body
Cloth
Place e.g markets, house, place of worship, etc.

In the traditions of our Noble Prophet Muhammad( PBUH), Cleanliness is mentioned as Half of the Islamic faith.

“Infection Control in Islam includes self restrain and Quarantine. Rasool Allah( Muhammad), Commanded his followers not to travel to places known to be afflicted with illness or diseases and he advised those in the contaminated areas or region not to leave and spread the disease further. ” if you hear that there is a plague in a land, do not enter it, and if it ( plague) visits a land while you are therein, do not go out of it.

He also Counseled ill people not to visit Healthy people or Community.”
