The total number of COVID-19 cases in the world has exceeded 25 million, although 70 percent have recovered.
According to Worldometers, global statistics platform, 25.4 million people have so far been infected with the coronavirus, out of which 17.8 million recovered.
With 851,000 dead from the infection, the global death rate stands at 3.3 percent.
The United States, which is the worst-hit country, comprises 24 percent of the total infections; while it has so far recorded 6.1 million cases, 3.4 million have recovered while the number of deaths stands at 187,300.
North America remains the continent with the highest number of cases at 7.3 million, while Oceania is the least with 28,400 cases.
Out of the 1.25 million infections so far recorded in Africa, 30,000 have died while 980,380 have recovered.
As of Sunday night, Nigeria has recorded 53,865 COVID-19 cases but only 11,340 are still active; while 1,013 have died, 41,500 have recovered.
