COVID-19: Wale Raji’s Impressive Largesse For His People At Epe Federal Constituency
The unbroken chain of quality representation that members of Epe Federal constituency have always experienced since the emergence of Honorable Wale Raji as the lawmaker representing the federal constituency, reached a crescendo on Monday, April 6, 2020.
It was both a moment of respite, and ecstasy for his constituents at Eredo LCDA, his first point of call, this time around, in a bid to cushion the effect of the deadly pandemic, COVID-19 following the lockdown directed to checkmate the coronavirus. This he did by providing economic palliatives in line with current global trend.
Accompanied by other constituents including the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon Saliu Adeniyi, Hon Tolani Odeyemi, Hon Dolapo Oladunjoye and Hon Agbaraojo, Hon Raji began with the disbursement of a cash grant of N5000 each to his constituent members at the LCDA.
The disbursement exercise which is expected to cover 1000 selected individuals will move to Epe Central, Ikosi-Ejinrin and other parts of Epe Federal Constituency subsequently, we reliably gathered.
The exercise according to Raji is being carried out in view of the social distancing rule and discouragement of a large gathering and informed his strategy of spreading the largesse using the ward to ward and house to house approach.
The people came out in droves and these included the elderly, the less privileged, the physically challenged, women, religious leaders, different classes of members of the community.
They were all on the queue standing 6 feet apart still in deference to the social distancing rule.
And by the time the distribution was through, there were smiles on many faces.
A beneficiary, Mr Bayo Olowu, Oloritun of Odomola described Hon Raji as a true friend, adding that true friends aren’t the ones that make problems disappear, but ones that won’t disappear when one is confronted with problems.
“Extending his hand of magnanimity to us in this very difficult time is an attestation to his genuine commitment towards making our lives more meaningful. We will continue to pray for him, he said.
At Agbowa, Ejinrin, Epe, Ise, Odo Ayandelu, it was words of appreciation and encomiums for the lawmaker both for the gesture and the strategy adopted in making it happen
They also lauded his spirit of benevolence, with one of them declaring:
“I belong to Wale Raji’s movement and I am so comfortable being driven by a visionary, cerebral and compassionate leader. It is a progressive movement. His legislative record is unequalled. Take a peep into his record and antecedents.
You see why I identify with his vision and progressive agenda. This is why I consider myself a Rajan and not a marlian”,, he concluded.
Honourable Wasiu Odeyemi, a respected politician in the area, said he has always identified with the lawmaker’s vision for a prosperous Epe.
According to him, one of his important virtues is the ability to always look back and give despite being at the top of the ladder of success.
He has consistently put Epe on a world view with a legislative agenda record that is impeccable”.
It has to be noted that although the constituency has witnessed numerous life-changing initiatives since Raji’s emergence as the lawmaker, this tops them all.
This assertion is predicated on the belief that when you remember the downtrodden in time of trouble, the reward is multifold. Our prayer is God will always remember him as he remembers is today and be there for him in terms of needs, Odeyemi said.
Hon Wale Raji while speaking with Eko Hot Blog reporter said the goal of the cash grant was to provide economic succour to his constituents, adding that the next phase would be far-reaching.
He informed that a special fund has been packaged to empower at least 500 businesses owned by women of the constituency who might have been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, COVID-19 is a pandemic that must be fought from so many fronts and all efforts must be collectively harnessed to achieve that goal, adding that the House of Representatives members have donated their two months’ salary to the executive arm in their quest to curb the spread of the virus.
He also called on other well-meaning Nigerians to reach deep into their pockets and assist those in need in this difficult period.
It is our collective responsibility to lay an enduring foundation for the present and future generations.
The political wheel will be spurn but the wheel of humanity from all of us will have far-reaching impact, he said
He urged his constituents to adhere strictly to the directive of the State governments on social distancing.
Effective containment of the deadly virus, Raji said, called for a very painful sacrifice. If we can abide now, we shall have cause to smile again when we all resume our normal life, he concluded.
