COVID-19: We must Pray and Fast, Clergyman Says

As the world battles the Covid-19 2nd Wave Pandemic; General over-seer, Christ Evangelical and life Intervention Ministry, Sabon Tasha-kaduna, Pastor Yohanna Buru has called on both Traditional and religious leaders across the African Continent to embark on ceaseless prayers and fasting to save the universe from the ravaging COVID-19.

Pastor Yohanna Buru made the call during an interview with newsmen in Kaduna, northwest Nigeria.

The Clergyman, while noting the importance of the African Weather condition in curtailing natural disasters and pandemics said it was only God that can protect the African region and the globe from the deadly Corona Virus, hence the need for intensified prayers by the relevant stakeholders.

According to Buru, while the search for solution due to rising cases of the virus is ongoing in the global community, continuous prayers and fasting were Key in addressing the challenges of the pandemic for economic recovery and growth of the region and the entire universe.

He called on the general public to abide by the WHO COVID-19 safety protocols that include: maintaining social distancing, use of nose masks and continuous use of hand sanitizers to avert the spread of the deadly scourge.

“Prayers and fasting appears to be the most powerful tools in seeking God’s intervention to control every natural and artificial disaster created by the devil to disrupt peace and stability in the world”.

Buru who attributed the rising cases of tropical diseases such as: malaria, Typhoid and Ebola among others to inability to safeguard the eco- system, stressed the need for Governments to make policies that would protect the regional and global environment against desertification and diseases outbreak.

The Christian Religious Leader offered prayer for those at the isolation centres including health workers and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients for divine protection and strength as well as compliance to government safety protocols to keep them protected from the virus.
