Local fashion designers known as tailors said they have been patronized at this period of the COVID-19 pandemic only when customers need face masks.
The coronavirus has shutdown many businesses including all the government mechanisms within and outside the country. It is with the mercy of God that people survive, especially the poor among the citizens. Most of the poor people have been complaining of no supper, no breakfast, no lunch but only sustaining with a little brunch. Those that have been eating at the right time are those that had patronized the political office holders for palliative care.
Well, the poor people among the citizens that may not be found at the doorstep of the politicians are tailors who have engaged themselves in the production of face masks. Moreover, food sellers alongside confectioners are another set of professionals that may not feel the presence of hardship that coronavirus has brought.
The tailors that have been engaging in the production of local face masks are the ones positively busy at the moment among other apprenticeships.
Mrs. Serah Aron, a tailoring apprentice told our reporter that many people have been buying the locally made face masks from her as they felt anyone without wearing one from Monday on will be penalized or harassed by the armed forces on the street.
“What we would be eating by now if we had not migrated to the sewing of face masks,” she said.
Mrs. Moriam Ibrahim said they have been encouraged by the way the present government encouraged the local farmers.
“The inspiration from the present government and the hardship caused by coronavirus has been the major agents behind this local face masks creativity,” she said.
