The 24th National Women’s Conference, organized by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), kicked off with a bang at the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event was attended by top government functionaries, including Governors Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, as well as former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
The governors and other dignitaries praised COWLSO’s dedication to community development and women’s empowerment.
Governor Eno commended the Lagos State Government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, while Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted COWLSO’s significant contributions to healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.
The conference theme, “Soar Beyond Boundaries; Enrich Communities,” was described as timely and inspiring by Governor Eno. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of women breaking societal limitations and contributing fully to community development.

First Lady of Lagos State and COWLSO Chairman, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, welcomed participants and highlighted the paradigm shift in COWLSO’s focus from infrastructural development to capacity-building and creating opportunities for women.
She called on women to break boundaries and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Dr. Oluwatoyin Adeyemi, Mrs. Temitope Okunnu, and Professor Rotimi Coker, who addressed key topics such as disease prevention, social welfare strategies, and boy child development.
The opening session was graced by several First Ladies, top government officials, traditional rulers, and delegates from various states across the country.
Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire was specially recognized as the ‘Inspiration Woman of the Year’ and expressed her gratitude for the honor.
She reaffirmed her commitment to gender equality and women’s emancipation, urging women to remain focused and prioritize child development.
