A crane operator identified as Jerry Ogheneremo, died at the weekend in Koko Community, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The deceased hailed from Ughelli community, and worked with Ebenco Global Link Services – a waste management and an oil servicing company.
It was gathered that Ogheneremo wanted to lift an object when the crane lost balance. The extended portion then turned to hit him in the driver’s cabin. Ogheneremo’s head was crushed in the process.

The company’s Legal Adviser and Secretary, Paul Omoluabi, who confirmed the accident, said: “It is unfortunate that we have to lose a worker to occupational hazard. As a company, we have policies that handle issues like this. As I speak now, the deceased’s family has been contacted; they have inspected the accident scene and have also been to the mortuary to check the body.”
Omoluabi added that the police was contacted immediately the incident happened.
