Creation Of Four Islands Is To Address Housing Problems – LASG
The Lagos State Government has created four islands in the waterfront areas to resolve the housing problems in the state.
The state Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructural Development, Kabiru Abdullahi, spoke at JJT Park, Alausa, Ikeja, venue of the 2020 ministerial briefing to mark the first year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in government.
He said approval was granted for the reclamation of 100 hectares of land for a project named Ostia Islands beside the Orange Island in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos.

The commissioner said work had started on the land, adding that it was being handled by OSTIA Construction Company.
“Approval was also granted for the reclamation of 54.58 hectares at Makoko for redevelopment by Messrs FBT Coral Estate Limited.
“Approval was given to the project named Majidun Awori Island with the aim of bringing commercial, residential and real estate development to the Ikorodu corridor.
“Others are King’s City Island to be located 300 metres North of Victoria Garden City with proposed 150 hectares and Olumegbon Royal Land (Palaver Yard Extension) with proposed 6.6 hectares of land. The four Islands are under the public private partnership arrangement of the Lagos State Government,” he added.
Abdullahi, an architect, disclosed that the state had continued its reclamation work and provision of infrastructure at the Eko Atlantic City, a flagship project of the ministry, to protect the Victoria Island and Lekki Peninsula from ocean surge.
