Criminals Have Advantage Over Us, Amotekun Commander Laments

To perform effectively, the Ondo state Security outfit, codenamed Amotekun corps, needs sophsticated weapons.

This was disclosed by Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the commmander of the security outfit. According to him, criminals have an advantage in terms of weapons over the security agencies in the southwest.

UGC Going further, he pleaded with the government to remove limitations to the crime-busting responsibility of the corps in the region by allowing it carry sophisticated weapons.

He said: ” The agencies are looking forward to acquiring more state-of-the-art equipment to combat insecurity in the states. There’s a need to procure modern equipment to confront criminals.

Meanwhile, he claimed that the state chapter of Amotekun is paying its personnel well. Eko hot blog gathered that Amotekun operatives in Ondo state blamed illegal miners for the killing of a farmer and a vigilante operative at the Jugbere Farm Settlement in Owo area of the state.

The security network stated that herdsmen were not responsible for the killings.

The director-general of the Amotekun corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said four suspects connected to the attack have been arrested.

In other news, the federal government has said that it would recruit 30,960 graduates as community security officers to implement the policy of the Community Safety and Human Security Programme (CSHSP) in Nigeria.

Each of the 774 local governments in the country would have 40 officers. The minister of special duties and inter-government affairs, George Akume, said this was to strategise on ways to reduce crimes and violence in the country.
