EKO HOT BLOG reports that days after surviving an assassination attempt, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) candidate for the Cross River state governorship, Usani Usani, has narrowly escaped a snake attack.

The incident occurred outside the politician’s home in the Mkpani community in Yakurr Local Government Area.

According to David Agabi, Usani’s media aide, the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs was taking a walk around his home in the community when he nearly stepped on a large snake. The snake was killed by those nearby.

In a statement, Agabi expressed concern about the recent events in Usani’s life, questioning, “What’s happening in Usani Uguru Usani’s life? After a failed assassination attempt, now is a snake?”

Last week, Usani was on his way to his hometown when he reportedly escaped an assassination attempt on the Calabar-Ikom federal highway. Two others were killed in the deadly encounter.

This latest close call is a reminder of the dangers faced by political figures, particularly in the lead up to the elections.
