- Benin City has the record with the highest rate of violent cult clashes in a year. No month passes by without the ancient city witnessing one cult war or the other amongst gangs fighting for supremacy.
July 7th is alleged to be the anniversary of the Black Axe confraternity and residents of Benin are scared that spillover from the celebrations would reignite more flames in the ongoing hostilities between the two rival gangs.
Owing to this, residents in Benin City have called on the State Security agencies to tighten security around the city as the bloody faceoff between the Black Axe and Maphite Confraternity lingers, according to residents today should be a day to be indoors in Benin City as there is the fear of an attack by both cult gangs.
Reports reaching EkoHotBlog says over 8 deaths have been recorded from both rival cult groups. Four deaths were recorded in the GRA axis of the City.
Meanwhile, the Neo Black Movement of Africa has disassociated itself from the July 7th date saying it has no affiliations with the Black Axe confraternity.
