Cultist Tortured To Death During Initiation In Ebonyi

A man identified as Nwafor Johnson has been tortured to death during a cult initiation ceremony in Ebonyi State.

Nwafor was allegedly beaten with sticks and cutlass by his fellow cultist identified as Nwali Kingsley.

He died and his corpse was thrown into a river where residents come to fetch drinking water.

The initiation ceremony which took place at Ekeugwu-Azuinyaba Secondary School, Azuinyaba, in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state ended in chaos as another victim identified as Ugbala fled the ground.

Nwali Kingsley was on Tuesday, July 28, arrested and is now being remanded in the state’s magistrate court on four counts charge bordering on  murder, conspiracy, cultism and unlawful possession of firearms.

He pleaded for mercy, saying that he was lured into the act by his friends.

His case file has been transferred to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions because the case lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter

Mrs Nnenna Onuoha who presided over the matter adjourned the case till Friday, August 7, 2020.
