The Nigeria Customs Service Zone ‘B’ command, Kaduna State has said it confiscated smuggled vehicles, bags of foreign rice, textiles and other items with a duty pay value of over ₦139 million worth.
The Coordinator of the Strike Force team, Aliyu Olorukoba, paraded the seized items before the press at the zone ‘B’ command office on Tuesday.
Olorukoba said the confiscation is in compliance with the Comptroller- General’s matching order to ensure that all expected streams of revenue from certified import duties come into government coffers.

Speaking further, he explained that the arrest and interception of the smuggled goods was facilitated by intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies.
Some of the smuggled items seized included 745 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 623 bales of second-hand cloths, 16 vehicles, 564 kegs of vegetation oil, 208 parcel of cannabis sativa and 821 cartons of foreign noodles among other items.
While the Customs Zonal coordinator reiterated the agency’s commitment to putting smugglers out of business, he warned them to desist from the illegal act, adding that the service is well equipped and motivated to do everything possible within the law to stop them.
