EKO HOT BLOG reports that Jakub Jankto, a professional footballer who currently plays for the Spanish club Getafe and represents the Czech Republic internationally, has made a bold and historic move by publicly announcing his homosexuality.
The 27-year-old midfielder shared the news with a video posted on his Twitter page.

In the video, Jankto spoke about his desire to live a life free from fear, prejudice, and violence and the importance of being open and honest about his sexual orientation.
“I am homosexual, and I no longer want to hide myself,” he said.
Jankto’s announcement was met with widespread support from the footballing community, including his club Sparta Prague, which released a statement saying that Jankto had already spoken openly about his sexual orientation with the club and that he had their support.
La Liga side Getafe also expressed their “utmost respect and unconditional support” for Jankto, while the Premier League issued a statement saying “football is for everyone.”
Jankto’s announcement makes the Czech footballer one of the highest-profile footballers in men’s football to come out as gay. Previously, Adelaide United full-back Josh Cavallo and Blackpool forward Jake Daniels made similar announcements in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Jakub Jankto began his career with Udinese in Italy and made 65 appearances for the Serie A club before joining Sampdoria in 2019 for a reported €15 million. Since making his international debut in 2017, Jankto has become a regular starter for the Czech Republic and has made 45 appearances for his country.

“I am homosexual, and I no longer want to hide myself.”
