The NiDCOM chairman sparked mixed reactions after posting photos of herself kneeling for the president-elect and the monarch.

The meeting with the two eminent personalities came as Nigerians in Sudan struggled to leave the war-ridden country.

On Thursday, a video of stranded Nigerians in the troubled country went viral but Dabiri-Erewa said officials were scampering to resolve the problem.
Eko Hot Blog reports that mixed reactions have trailed photos of the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, kneeing while greeting Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Emir of Kano, HRM Emir Aminu Ado Bayero in Abuja on Thursday.
The government official shared the photos via her Twitter handle late Thursday night.
EDITOR’S PICKS
She shared the pictures amid the struggle of Nigerians in Sudan to leave the war-troubled country.
“With President elect @officialABAT and HRM Emir Ado Bayero at the residence of our incoming President in Abuja today,” Dabiri-Erewa wrote on Twitter.
While some commended her for the show of respect and tipped her for the position of foreign minister in the next administration, others criticised her allegedly abandoning her job.
However, before posting the photos, Dabiri-Erewa had announced that the issue of Nigerians stranded in Sudan had been resolved.
“I have just spoken to the @nemanigeria . They have started moving and the issues between Nema and the transport company have [sic] been resolved,” she tweeted in response to a post claiming that evacuation buses from Sudan stopped in the middle of the desert because of non-payment.

Wow! This is amazing!! You still managed to pull off additional work after hosting a very successful GADS 2023 event same day. If only most citizens knew the amount hard work a lot of our public officials truly put in to get things done, they might be more empathic. Well done ma!

I won't be surprised if Abike is appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs by The Tinubu Administration.

Some disagreed with the NiDCOM chairman’s visit:
This visit and your kneeling down is of no news value to Nigerians at a time of emergency when your hands should be on deck to ensure quick evacuation and safe arrival of Nigerians in #Sudan . Posting this now is insensitive as a public official saddled with that responsibility

Get those kids out of sudan

Hello ma, I like your swift responses…are you not supposed to be in Egypt or Sudan…what are you doing in Abuja politicking? Are you meeting tinubu for the 1st time?
— Anglo Palmer 💫 (@idrisadenuga11) April 28, 2023
What a shame! Talk about poor timing and this tweet is exactly that. It is insensitive and poorly timed given the current situation of Nigerian citizens in Sudan.
