Dancing To Seun Kuti’s Tune: Woman Who Locked Horns With Policeman Lands In Kirikiri Prison

  • A woman has followed in the footsteps of Seun Kuti by allegedly assaulting a police officer in Lagos.

  • She committed the offence on Monday, May 15.

  • By Tuesday, May 16, she was arraigned and remanded.

Eko Hot Blog reports that a Magistrates Court in Lagos State has remanded a woman, Olufumilayo Brioluwa, to the Kirikiri correctional facility.

Brioluwa was accused of assaulting a police officer in the Ogombo area of Lagos State.

A picture released by the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Tuesday night, showed the suspect holding the policeman’s shirt with her two hands as the latter smiled.

According to Hundeyin, Brioluwa will be in prison until June 6 when the case comes up again in court.

The police spokesperson did not share more details on the alleged assault incident.

It was not immediately clear what prompted Brioluwa to act the way she did, but her next appearance in court on June 6 may shed some light on the incident.

The incident came only two days after Seun Kuti, son of Afro beats legend, Fela Kuti, was filmed slapping a police officer.

Kuti surrendered to the police on Monday and was handcuffed.

On Tuesday, the police took him to court, seeking to detain him for 21 days.

However, the court granted the singer a bail, effective 48 hours after the judgement was delivered Tuesday afternoon.
