Dangiwa Commends Adebayo as FMBN Secures N100bn for Housing Projects

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has commended Festus Adebayo, Executive Director of the Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), for his dedication to promoting affordable housing in Africa. Dangiwa praised Adebayo’s impactful work during the Africa Housing Awards 2024, held in Abuja.

Dangiwa highlighted that initiatives like the Africa Housing Awards have encouraged collaboration in the housing industry and created optimism for housing development in Nigeria. He noted Adebayo’s efforts in uniting stakeholders to address housing challenges.

Former Minister of Mines and Solid Minerals, Musa Sada, who chaired the event, also praised Adebayo, describing him as a transformative leader in the housing sector whose advocacy has made a significant impact.

Similarly, Abdulmumin Jibrin, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Housing and Habitat, called Adebayo a hardworking and courageous advocate. He credited Adebayo’s passion for affordable housing as a driving force for uniting industry players.

In a separate development at the event, Shehu Osidi, Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), announced a partnership to secure N100 billion in off-takers guarantees. This initiative aims to make affordable housing more accessible to Nigerians.

Osidi revealed that the funds will support the development of Renewed Hope Cities and Estates across Nigeria, starting with a housing project in Karsana, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He emphasized that the initiative aligns with efforts to expand homeownership opportunities.

He also introduced new housing products, including Rent Assistance, Non-Interest Mortgage, and the Diaspora National Housing Fund Mortgage, to provide more options for Nigerians in achieving their housing goals.
