EKO HOT BLOG reports that this move, made in partnership with MRS Oil and Gas, is aimed at providing Nigerians with more affordable fuel, directly competing with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
With the latest price reduction, motorists can now purchase Dangote-refined petrol at the following rates across the country:
MRS Holdings Stations:
- Lagos – ₦860 per litre
- South-West – ₦870 per litre
- North – ₦880 per litre
- South-South & South-East – ₦890 per litre
AP (Ardova Petroleum) & Heyden Stations:
- Lagos – ₦865 per litre
- South-West – ₦875 per litre

A viral TikTok video by @valorreviews has fueled discussions on fuel efficiency from different suppliers. In the video, a man conducted an informal test using two small tiger generators, commonly known as “I better pass my neighbour.”
He compared petrol from an NNPC station with that from an MRS station, which sources fuel from Dangote Refinery. The test showed that the generator running on Dangote fuel lasted 33 minutes, while the one using NNPC fuel lasted only 17 minutes. This has led to widespread debate on fuel efficiency, with many Nigerians praising Dangote’s entry into the market for disrupting NNPC’s dominance.
However, NNPCL dismissed the claims, stating that some of its Lagos stations also source petrol from Dangote Refinery.

The price reduction is expected to intensify competition in Nigeria’s fuel market, offering consumers more choices amid fluctuating petrol prices. Many Nigerians are now considering alternatives to NNPC fuel, particularly at Dangote’s partner stations, where petrol is reportedly cheaper and more efficient.
