EKO HOT BLOG reports In a strategic move towards bolstering the supply chain of refined petroleum products, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is poised to provide fuel to approximately 150,000 retail outlets operated by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN). Following a meeting between the refinery’s management and IPMAN executives, an agreement has been reached to facilitate the supply of products to over 30,000 IPMAN members across the country.
President of IPMAN, Abubakar Maigandi, confirmed the successful meeting, highlighting the commitment of the Dangote refinery to cater to the needs of IPMAN members. The regulatory authorities in the downstream oil sector are currently evaluating the refined products from the facility before granting approval for widespread dispensation in the market.

The collaboration between Dangote Refinery and IPMAN aligns with the refinery’s broader strategy to engage major stakeholders in the oil and gas industry. Notably, seven major oil marketers, including 11 Plc, Conoil Plc, Ardova Plc, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, OVH Energy Marketing Limited, Total Nigeria Plc, and NNPC Retail, have registered with the refinery for lifting and distributing refined petroleum products.
IPMAN, with its extensive network of 150,000 retail outlets nationwide, is set to benefit from this collaboration, as Dangote Refinery becomes a key supplier for its members. The refinery’s recent announcement of commencing the production of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) and JetA1 (aviation fuel) further solidifies its position as a major player in the industry.
President Maigandi expressed optimism about the prospect of Dangote Refinery supplying products to IPMAN, emphasizing that the facility’s production capacity is substantial. While acknowledging the refinery’s commitment to selling in January, he highlighted the potential impact on addressing fuel scarcity issues in the country.
“It is not a small project. It is a very good thing for Nigeria. They are to start with aviation fuel and diesel. Therefore, by God’s grace, our 30,000 members are ready to buy and distribute across the 150,000 retail outlets nationwide. So anywhere you go, you will see fuel. The issue of scarcity of fuel will be no more once he (Dangote) starts,” stated President Maigandi.

While discussions on pricing details were not disclosed, Maigandi indicated that the price from Dangote Refinery is expected to be slightly lower than current market rates. The refinery, located in Lagos, has received six million barrels of crude oil and is equipped to load 2,900 trucks per day at its truck-loading gantries. The products from the refinery adhere to Euro V specifications, ensuring high-quality standards in line with global requirements.
