Dapo Ojora, Saraki’s Brother-In-Law, Dies After Shooting Himself

The Sarakis and the renowned family of Ojora in Lagos have been thrown into a deep state of despair and agony following the death of Dapo Ojora, a Lagos socialite.

The 58-year-old, who is a brother-in-law to Bukola Saraki, former senate president, died on Friday evening.

Dapo is one of the sons of Otunba Ojora, a renowned business magnate, and the elder brother to Toyin Saraki, wife of the ex-senate president.

He was said to have died from a gunshot wound he  inflicted on himself.

While there are reports suggesting that the incident was a case of accidental discharge, The Street Journal, which first broke the tragic news, claimed Ojora committed suicide.

According to The Street Journal, the dissolution of his marriage with his now estranged wife, Patricia, after their relationship hit the rock some years back may have seriously affected his state of mind, a situation which could have culminated into taking his own life.

His death comes a few years after he was reported to have escaped a fatal power bike accident.

Reacting to Ojora’s death, Saraki said the Police have begun investigation into the case.

The former Kwara governor, who comfirmed Ojora’s death on his Twitter page on Saturday morning, said the family awaits the outcome of the police investigation.

While he appealed to the public to allow the family mourn Ojora’s passing privately, he disclosed that his burial arrangement will be announced soon.

“We are grateful to the Lagos State Police Command for commencing an investigation into the circumstances of his death, the outcome of which we await,” he wrote in a short statement.

“As we mourn our irreparable and devastating loss, we appreciate the condolence messages and prayers that we have received.

“We seek your understanding that the family be allowed to grieve in private.

“Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course. We ask that you continue to pray for the repose of Adedapo’s soul.”
