Eko Hot Blog reports that Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about his strained relationships with fellow Nigerian musicians Wizkid and Burna Boy. In an interview on the American show Sway’s Universe, Davido revealed that he does not communicate with the duo.
Addressing the common comparison made between the three artists as the biggest Afrobeats acts, Davido downplayed the notion, stating that he is the only big Afrobeats artist. This contradicts previous reports that the three musicians have a cordial relationship.
Davido also took the opportunity to address recent rumors of his arrest after a show in Kenya. The singer debunked the reports, stating that they are “entirely untrue” and that he has “never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world.” He further disclosed that he successfully completed his scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and has since returned to Nigeria.
The ‘Unavailable’ crooner noted that his lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media platform responsible for the arrest claims, which he described as “irresponsible” and a “fabrication of allegations of such international crimes.”
Davido’s candid comments shed light on the complex dynamics within the Afrobeats scene, where the industry’s leading figures may not necessarily maintain close personal relationships, despite their shared success.
