Tragedy struck the Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) when a day-old baby was discovered abandoned in Jikoko village, Eko Hot Blog reports.
According to local sources, the newborn was found wrapped in cloth, placed in a carton, and discarded along a bush path close to a poultry farm.

The shocking discovery has left the community in a state of dismay and confusion. One resident, Aliyu, expressed his disbelief at the incident, remarking that the situation was truly distressing for the neighborhood.
“We woke up to the sight of a day-old baby kept in a carton.
“The carton was placed along a bush path close to a poultry farm in Jikoko. The police were notified, and they took the baby to a health centre for medical attention.”
When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident and said an investigation had begun to trace the mother of the abandoned child.

“Investigation has commenced to locate the mother of the baby. The baby is currently with the social welfare department,” she said.
