EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nigerian singer and performer D’banj and his group have issued a statement distancing the artiste from any inciting comments that may have suggested he was taking sides in a recent dispute between two of his colleagues in the music industry.
The statement came after a back-and-forth argument between internet personality Peter Okoye and musician Seun Kuti over their support for presidential candidates in the upcoming general elections.
According to the statement, which was signed by D’banj’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, and released to the media, the singer denies making any derogatory or disparaging remarks against anyone in the entertainment industry.
The statement advises the public to ignore what it calls “mischief” of a publication that was published with the intention of driving traffic to gossip blogs and stoking non-existent conflict between D’banj and his colleagues.
D’banj expressed shock over the false publication that was attributed to him and emphasized that the music industry should remain one big family. Despite political differences and the potential for heated debates, the singer pointed out that elections will eventually come and go.
The statement concludes by reiterating that D’banj has never made any negative comments against anyone in the industry and that the public should disregard any information that suggests otherwise.
The singer’s stance is a clear indication that he values unity and positivity in the music industry and that he wishes to avoid any unnecessary conflict.
According to the statement:
”This is to notify the public that Mr Oladapo Daniel (D’Banj) never made any derogatory or disparaging statement against anybody, especially within the entertainment industry, nor has he directed the publication of any such material on his behalf.”
“They must all remain one big family in the industry. Though political ideologies may differ and could be expressed in heated ways, the irrefutable truth is that elections will come and go.”
