A tragic explosion at an Islamiyyah school in Kuchibiyu Community, Bwari Area Council, about 42 kilometers from Abuja city center, claimed the life of one student and left four others injured on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred around noon, creating chaos within the community.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to sources, emergency responders and security personnel, including a police bomb disposal squad, quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and transport the injured students to the hospital.
The eyewitnesses who spoke with Vanguard said the yet–to–be-identified dead student was said to be carrying an item suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, which suddenly exploded and injured four other students, causing panic within the entire school.
“The students affected were new admissions to the school and had resumed just a few days ago, on January 3, 2025,” the source added.
As of the time of this report, neither the school authorities nor the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Police, represented by spokesperson Josephine Adeh, has issued an official statement regarding the explosion.
