The group of defectors includes a former candidate for the State House of Assembly representing Makera Constituency, along with several women and youth leaders from Kaduna-South Local Government.
They were welcomed into the APC fold by Ibrahim Soso, the Local Government Party Chairman, and Senator Lawal Aliyu, a former senator for Kaduna-North, during a gathering at Monday Market in Kakuri Gwari.
In his address, Chairman Ibrahim Soso reassured the new members that they would be given equal opportunities within the APC regardless of their recent membership status.
He encouraged them to actively support and vote for all APC candidates in the upcoming October 19 Council elections, expressing confidence that “Kaduna-South will back our party, the APC, and we’re sure that the main opposition, PDP, is no longer a threat here.”
Representing the defectors, Ayok Danboyi, a former Makera State House of Assembly candidate, and Yunana Bala, a PDP chieftain, attributed their defection to the leadership approach of Executive Vice Chairman Nehemiah Baba-Karik and Governor Uba Sani, who have been focusing on unity and progress across the state.
