Delta Bye-election: INEC Declares PDP’s Evivie Ovuokporie As Winner

  • Evivie Ovuokporie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled the highest votes in Delta State’s just-concluded bye-election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Evivie Ovuokporie, as the winner of the Isoko South State constituency 1, in Delta State bye-election held on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

The election result was announced by the returning Officer, Prof. Christopher Onosemuode at the Constituency Collation Centre, Isoko South INEC Local Government Area office.

The State House of Assembly seat became vacant following the death of Kenneth Ogba in June this year.

The bye-election to fill the vacant seat was contested by candidates of the PDP, who polled 6, 957 votes; Michael Paul of the Social Democratic Party, who polled 1,291 votes and Dr Ogaga Ifowodo of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 1,301 votes.
