Delta Bye-election: Okowa Seeks Justice For Victims Of Violence
- Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa called for the punishment of those that perpetrated election violence in the state.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, has sought justice for the victims of violence that rocked the state during the just-concluded bye-election.
Reacting to the killing of a voter in Irri ward by some yet-to-be identified gunmen in the course of the election, Okowa expressed sadness, as he urged security agencies to ensure that those responsible for election crimes are brought to justice.

Okowa said this in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika in Asaba.
The governor also congratulated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ovuakpoye Evivie, over his electoral victory. He described Evivie’s victory as well deserved and “a confirmation of our party’s dominance in Delta.”
Okowa was also quoted as saying, “Despite the peace that characterised the election, I deplore the reported killing of a voter in Irri ward 10 and, I urge security agencies to go after the culprits and bring them to justice.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate Mr Ovuakpoye Evivie on his victory in the Isoko South Constituency 1 bye-election.”
