Delta Civil Service Commission Budgets N279m For Fiscal 2021

The Delta Civil Service Commission is proposing a budget of N279 million for fiscal 2021, to consolidate on its achievements in 2020, says its Chair, Mrs Nkem Okwuofo.

Defending the commission’s budget before the state House of Assembly Committee on Establishment, Ethics and Privilege on Monday in Asaba, Okwofo disclosed that personnel cost would gulp N90.7 million of the amount with regular overhead accounting for N27.6 million, while non-regular overhead had N96 million.

She said that N64.9 million was being allocated for Capital Expenditure.

”While financing our regular activities, it is the intention of the commission to embark on the provision of uninterrupted power via the deployment of a solar power facility for the commission’s data centre that is currently ongoing.

”We also intend to embark on networking of the commission’s office and digitalization of its activities. This will be in phases,” she said.

On the 2020 budget performance of the commission, Okwuofo said that the budget performance stood at 60 per cent overall though in specific terms the performance of recurrent and capital expenditures were 77 per cent and 49 per cent respectively.

She used the occasion of the budget defence to assure civil servants that their promotions would come at the right time.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Innocent Anidi advised the commission to strive to enhance its service delivery.

The Directorate of Government House and Protocol, led by its Permanent Secretary, Mr Eddy Ogidi-gbegbaje, and his counterpart in the office of the Deputy Governor, Mr Maxwell Awuse also defended their 2021 budget estimates before the committee.
