Eko Hot Blog reports that voters will head to 5,863 polling units within 500 wards across 25 local government areas to elect council chairmen and councillors.
In related developments, the State Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, along with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), the squadron commander of the 31PMF, and DPOs from the 25 LGAs, visited the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Asaba, Delta State.
This visit was to inspect the election materials for the local government elections.
The purpose of the visit was also to ensure the safe transport of sensitive and non-sensitive materials to the various local government areas.
Olufemi instructed the DPOs to personally oversee the safe delivery of all materials to their respective destinations. He assured residents and voters that the Command would ensure a peaceful and hitch-free election process.
He also reiterated the restriction of movement from 8 am to 3 pm on election day, with exceptions made for NABTEB examination students and individuals on essential duties.
