EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Delta State Police Command has successfully arrested a suspected armed robber, Joseph Vincent, during a stop and search operation along Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The arrest took place at about 10 am on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, the suspect was apprehended while the operatives of Dragon 18 and 29 were carrying out their stop and search duties.
The team intercepted a tricycle with registration number GBB 022 UN, driven by one Isreal Sibito, who was conveying three females and one male passenger, identified as Joseph Vincent.
During the search, Vincent attempted to escape by jumping down from the tricycle and running into a nearby bush. However, he was pursued and apprehended by the operatives. A thorough search of the suspect resulted in the recovery of two locally fabricated Berretta pistols.
The police spokesman affirmed that an investigation is ongoing into the matter. He further reiterated the police command’s commitment to its core mandate of protecting lives and property, while urging members of the public to exercise patience whenever they are subjected to stop and search by operatives.
The arrest of Vincent is another indication of the Delta State Police Command’s efforts in curbing criminal activities within the state.
The command has, in recent times, recorded a series of successful arrests and recoveries, and it continues to work tirelessly towards ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
