Eko Hot Blog reports that The Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Sheriff Oborevwori, has been declared winner and Governor-Elect of Delta State.
Oborevwori polled 360, 234 votes to beat his closest rival , Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of APC, who scored 240,229.
Out of the 25 local governments in the state, of which PDP’s Oborevwori won 21 of them Whiel APC’s Omo-Agege won the remaining four local government areas.
While declaring the results, the State collation officer, Georgewill Owunari, said there were 3, 221, 697 registered voters for the election.
The number of accredited voters was put at 710, 829 while there were 671, 737 valid votes.
The rejected votes were 15, 384 while the total votes cast were said to be 687, 121.
Delta state has been controlled by the PDP since the return to democracy in 1999.
Sheriff is the incumbent Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly as a representative of the Okpe Constituency.
Delta has been a PDP state since 1999. The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa, is the current Governor of Delta.
