Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, has secured a spot in the 2025 Afrobasket Championship, joining Cape Verde, Libya, and Uganda as the four teams advancing from Group B.

Despite finishing with a record of two wins and three losses, Nigeria accumulated seven points, the same as Uganda. The standings ensured both teams’ progression to the final tournament in Angola, regardless of the outcome of Nigeria’s last match against Cape Verde.
D’Tigers started their campaign with a victory over Libya and later defeated Uganda, compensating for three earlier losses in the first qualification window. Meanwhile, former champions Morocco and the Central African Republic (CAR) were not as fortunate, failing to qualify from Groups A and D, respectively.

The 2025 Afrobasket tournament, scheduled to take place in Luanda, Angola, from August 12 to 25, will feature the host nation Angola, along with Egypt, Senegal, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, Madagascar, Mali, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cape Verde, and Libya.
