President Muhammadu Buhari gave Festus Keyamo, minister of state for labour and employment, the nod commence the programme amid the acrimonious situation it has engendered between the executive and the legislative arm of government.
Keyamo and the national assembly became embroiled in a melee following the legislature’s insistence on dictating the process of the programme.
Consequently, the national assembly suspended the programme in the heat of its face-off with the minister, demanding further explanations.
At a meeting in June, members of the committee and the minister engaged in a shouting match which led to the latter being walked out of the the hallowed chamber.
But Keyamo accused the committee of trying to usurp the programme and to appropriate some job slots to themselves.
He also accused the national assembly committee of challenging the president by its action.
