Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to ease the lockdown imposed the state.
Ganduje said request for relaxation of the lockdown became imperative in order to forestall the Impending economic hardship that’s like to be occasioned by the lockdown.
He also said easing of the lockdown would help the Muslim faithfuls who are in the only month of Ramadan to restock their homes with food as there’s dearth of food in people’s home.
Ganduje made the plea during the inauguration of a seven-member specialised experts to support the State’s technical committee at the Government House.

Eko Hot Blog had reported that, Buhari, in a nationwide broadcast on Monday, announced the total lockdown of the State with immediate effect to stem the spread of coronavirus.
The decision was taken following mass deaths recorded in the State.
However, on Thursday Ganduje sought for urgent easing of the 14-day total Lockdown, saying it was in the best interest of Kano people.

“We would engage the presidential taskforce on COVID-19 to seek permission to relax the total lockdown imposed on Kano. We are making this appeal on behalf of our people who are presently running out of food items.
“We love the Federal government to relax the lockdown for a period of time to enable people stock their homes, especially now that majority of us are fasting. It will also ease the economic hardship in the state,” This Day quoted him as saying.
Ganduje further disclose that the government was expanding facilities to accommodate an increasing number of suspects.
Meanwhile, Kano State on Thursday recorded 80 new cases of coronavirus.
