EKO HOT BLOG reports that Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the former Emir of Kano, has returned to the ancient city.

His location had been unknown since Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf sacked him on Thursday.

The House of Assembly, now controlled by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), repealed the law initially signed by ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on December 5, 2019.

Following Ganduje’s endorsement of the law, he divided the emirates into five and appointed Emirs to oversee each one.

But while signing the repealed Kano Emirates Council Law, Yusuf gave all the Emirs affected by the law 48 hours to vacate their palaces and hand over to the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair.

He had subsequently announced the reinstatement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, whom Ganduje deposed in 2020.

The governor issued a reappointment letter to Sanusi on Friday and he led Jumat prayers at Government House, Kano.
