EKO HOT BLOG reports that the controversy began when Hussaina Iliya appeared on a popular Abuja radio station, accusing Brig. Gen. A.S. Adamu of ordering her husband’s detention since 2018.
The allegation quickly gained traction, prompting Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle to call for an investigation.
Amid the growing attention, a video emerged online showing Haruna resisting attempts by fellow military personnel to disarm him.
The video ended abruptly, but gunshots were reportedly heard in the background.
In response to the allegations, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, dismissed the claims in an interview with The Punch. “He was never under arrest. People are just making an issue out of no issue,” Gusau asserted.
When asked about Haruna’s current whereabouts, Gusau indicated that an investigation is ongoing and the public will be informed of the findings once it is concluded. “Investigation is currently ongoing. By the time the investigation report is ready, we will inform Nigerians what happened and where he is,” he added.
