Mother, Five Children Die After Eating Local Delicacy In Kano

Six family members, including a mother, Alhaqatu Abdulkarim, and her five children, have tragically died after consuming a local delicacy in Karkari village, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State.

The victims were reportedly taken to Gwarzo General Hospital for treatment after experiencing severe abdominal complications. Unfortunately, they died in intervals while receiving medical care.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Ward Head of Karkari village, Yakubu Danazumi, confirmed the incident during a phone interview with Vanguard. According to Danazumi, the incident occurred on Tuesday, with two of the victims passing away that day.

Two more died the following day, the mother on Thursday, and the last child succumbed on Friday.

The family members have been buried according to Islamic rites, and a seven-day prayer will be observed for them on the upcoming Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Alhaqatu Abdulkarim, 35 years old, and her children: Usman Abdulkarim, 9; Fiddausi Abdulkarim, 11; Hafsa Abdulkarim, 7; Jamilu Abdulkarim, 4; and Bashari Abdulkarim, 19.
