PDP Dino Melaye's Suspension
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Senator Dino Melaye for alleged anti-party activities.
According to a letter that was sent out on Friday, the suspension was issued by the ward executive committee in Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 after reviewing a report from a disciplinary committee that investigated Melaye’s actions.
His recent behavior was deemed harmful to the party’s interests and unity, leading to his suspension.
This is not the first time the PDP has taken such action. In August 2024, Peter Babalola, a party chieftain from Osun, was suspended for similar allegations of anti-party activities and failing to attend party meetings for two years. Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom was also suspended by the Benue PDP over alleged anti-party activities, while Senator Gabriel Suswam and others were summoned by the Benue PDP over similar accusations.
These suspensions reflect the PDP’s determination to uphold party discipline and unity. However, further details on Melaye’s suspension are still emerging.
The suspension letter stated, “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, making his continued membership untenable.

The suspension is in accordance with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which grants the Ward executive committee the authority to discipline members who violate party rules.
