Donald Trump Under Pressure Over Medical Records

Kamala Harris has released her medical records, which confirm she is in “excellent health” and fully capable of serving as president.

In response, the Democratic presidential nominee criticized Donald Trump for his lack of transparency in not releasing his own health records.

Harris claimed her Republican opponent “doesn’t want the American people to know if he’s fit for the presidency.”

Trump’s campaign, while not disclosing his medical records, quoted his doctor stating that the former president is in “perfect and excellent health.” They also argued that Trump’s “extremely busy and active campaign schedule” proves he has more stamina than Harris.

The exchange followed the White House’s release of a medical report affirming Harris’s “physical and mental resiliency” for the presidency.

Dr. Joshua Simmons, who has been Harris’s physician for over three years, described her most recent physical as “unremarkable” and noted that she leads a healthy lifestyle.

He also mentioned her family history of colon cancer and her management of allergies, highlighting her adherence to preventative care measures like regular colonoscopies and mammograms.

After the medical records were published, a Harris campaign spokesperson posted on social media, urging Trump to follow suit with his own records.

At a North Carolina campaign event, Harris questioned Trump’s mental acuity, pointing out how he “often goes off on tangents.”

Democrats have increasingly raised concerns about the 78-year-old Trump’s age and mental fitness, particularly after Republicans spent months criticizing President Joe Biden on similar grounds before his exit from the race.

If Trump wins in November, he would end his second term at 82, matching Biden, who will also be 82 when he leaves office in January.

In response to the Harris camp’s pressure, Trump’s campaign communications director, Steven Cheung, emphasized that Trump had “voluntarily released” medical updates from his personal physician, as well as from the doctor who treated him after the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this year.

Cheung reiterated that all medical reports declared Trump in “perfect and excellent health” to serve as Commander in Chief. He also referenced a 2023 letter that confirmed Trump’s physical and cognitive exams were both “exceptional.”

While national polls show Harris slightly ahead of Trump, the race remains tight in key battleground states.
