EKO HOT BLOG reports on the drama surrounding the failed transfer of Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech to Paris Saint-Germain that took a comical turn as the London club blamed a “technology glitch” for the mix-up.
As the January transfer window drew to a close, Ziyech agreed on personal terms with PSG for a loan move for the remainder of the season. The two clubs were expected to finalize the deal, but it all came crashing down on deadline day when the documentation to complete the transfer was not submitted in time.
In a surreal turn of events, Ziyech was actually in Paris, ready to be unveiled as a PSG player, but was forced to return to London after the deal fell apart. Meanwhile, reports in France suggested that Chelsea had sent the incorrect documentation not once, not twice, but a whopping three times.
However, in a lighthearted twist, Chelsea are now blaming the failed move on a “technology glitch.” One can imagine the confusion and frustration as the club tried to send the correct paperwork, only for it to disappear into the ether or be swallowed by a black hole in cyberspace.
Despite the setbacks, Ziyech remains a top-class player and will likely have another chance to secure a move in the future. In the meantime, the 29-year-old will continue to ply his trade at Stamford Bridge, hopefully with a newfound appreciation for the importance of technology.
