He made the case for the preservation of cultural heritage on Monday at the Ojude Oba festival.

Addressing the community youth, Oba Ogunsanwo urged them not to neglect their roots but to embrace and cherish their cultural identity.

Cultural Preservation and Youth Empowerment

In his address, the Alara articulated that the preservation of culture is not merely a matter of tradition but a crucial element in fostering a sense of belonging and pride among younger generations.

He emphasized the need for youths to actively engage with their cultural heritage, encouraging them to return to their roots and immerse themselves in learning about their customs, traditions, and history.

Education and Cultural Familiarity

“Today’s youth must not forsake their culture,” declared Oba Ogunsanwo.

The monarch stressed the importance of visiting their ancestral homes and communities to gain firsthand knowledge and experience of their cultural practices.

By doing so, he asserted, they can develop a deep-seated familiarity with their heritage, which will in turn enrich their understanding of self and community.

Harmony Between Religion and Culture

Addressing a common misconception, Oba Ogunsanwo highlighted that embracing culture does not conflict with religious beliefs.

He affirmed that individuals can maintain their religious faith while also valuing and upholding their cultural traditions.

This dual commitment, he emphasized, contributes to a balanced and holistic personal development.

Community Support and Future Prospects

The Alara of Ilara also expressed optimism about the future, envisioning a community where cultural pride and modern aspirations harmoniously coexist.

He pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting cultural heritage, underscoring their role in fostering unity and resilience within the community.

As the address concluded, attendees, including community leaders and youths, reflected on Oba Ogunsanwo’s powerful message.
