Double Honour: Alh Animashawun, Sholape Animashawun Foundation Bag Int’l Humanitarian Awards

Eko Hot Blog reports that a Canadian Based Philanthropist, Alhaji Semiyu Animashawun has been honoured with a community award of excellence by the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario, (SCAGO).

This is in recognition of his decade-long contributions to helping individuals living with sickness cell disease.

The award letter signed by the President/CEO, Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario, Mrs Lanre Tunji-Ajayi partly reads: “The community has recognized your excellent work and nominated you to receive the SCAGO’S Community Award of Excellence at the Hope Gala and awards slated for June 15, 2024..”

Similarly, Sholape Animashawun Foundation, a brainchild of Alhaji Animashawun has also bagged a Humanitarian Award of Excellence at the same event.

The Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO) introduced the Hope Gala & Awards in 2005 “to honour the many heroes who have contributed relentlessly to the advancement of sickle cell disease from different fronts”

In a December 2023 Interview with Ekohotblog, Alhaji Animashawun revealed that Sholape Animashawun foundation established in 2010 has provided support for numerous students with sickle cell diseases in Canada.

“Sholape Animashawun Foundation was founded in 2010 in memory of my late wife, Rasheedat Sholape Animashawun.”

The foundation has gone on to support hundreds of students, petty business owners as well as the less privileged in Nigeria through scholarship and other empowerment programmes.
