EKO HOT BLOG reports that tragedy struck at Ja’oje village in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State as two sisters between the ages of 9 and 11 were reported dead following a heavy downpour in the community.
It was gathered that the two sisters, Hamida and Maryam, died after the room in which they were sleeping collapsed as a result of the heavy rainstorm.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the tragic incident was confirmed by the Director, Relief and Rehabilitation in the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mustapha Umar, noting that 144 animals were killed by the heavy downpour in Sokoto State.
Umar further noted that several houses were destroyed, saying over 177 households were affected.

He added that a combined team of Sokoto Emergency Management Agency, National Emergency Management Agency and International Organization For Migration were in the affected community for an on-the-spot assessment.
The SEMA Director further disclosed that two other communities in the state were also affected by the heavy downpour but they were yet to ascertain their losses.
