Tinubu Reappoints Dr. Agboola As Provost Of Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital
President Bola Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Dr. Afis Agboola as the Provost and Medical Director of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, for a second term of four years.
The approval, communicated by the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Iziaq Salako, was made official through a letter (Ref. No. PRES/BI/SGF/138/90/MH/B) dated October 24, 2024. Dr. Agboola’s tenure renewal will take effect from July 27, 2024.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiola Ajibola, confirmed the reappointment in a statement sent to journalists on Saturday.
Congratulating Dr. Agboola, Minister Salako praised his accomplishments during his first term and urged him to build on his successes.
He encouraged the reappointed Provost and Medical Director to work even harder to ensure that the hospital continues to deliver quality healthcare and surpasses the achievements of his initial tenure.
“The reappointment of Dr. Agboola is based on his impressive track record and the significant progress made under his leadership during his first term,” the statement read.
“Dr. Agboola is expected to further elevate the hospital’s services and continue to drive improvements in mental healthcare delivery across the country.”
This announcement follows other notable reappointments, including that of the Managing Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Taraba, which has also been hailed by stakeholders.
Dr. Agboola’s renewed leadership role reaffirms the government’s commitment to ensuring effective healthcare services, particularly in mental health, for the people of Nigeria.
